Dodend looked up at the ceiling for a long moment, his eyes tracing the lines of each shape, his brow wrinkled in thought. When he blinked images flashed across his eyelids, images similar to the paintings above. A forest, where time seemed to almost stand still, demons, werewolves and magic. He closed his eyes, letting the images run through like an over-fast film. They contradicted what he thought he knew about his life, places he rememebred no longer made sense, the new memories slipping in and replacing these places with new ones that made perfect sense but made absolutely no sense at the same time.
It was over within a minute and the very second it had finished, Dodend looked back down from the ceiling and patted down his pockets until her found a pen, took hold of his napkin, unfolded the cloth and then drew a map on the fabric. It wasn't a map of the continent. When it was drawn, the last intricate detail noted down, he dropped the pen and turned it for Sandine to see. "Do you know this place? The artwork made it come to mind but it's not... Well it's not anywhere that's on the map of the world here..."

Sandine tried to fight back the sea of images she herself was getting. Bits of flashed memories, fragmented and piecing back together. She took a quick glance over the map and dropped her wine glass. It smacked against the table, some of the red liquid spilling over the map almost like blood. She stared at it. The shapes made no sense with anything in this world she'd seen. There were no such sections like the Earldom of Man on it... yet it made perfect sense to her. She knew each place and remembered being there as if it were only yesterday.
"Aroth," she said. Her lips formed the word almost soundlessly, it coming out as more of an airy whisper than anything else. She remembered the place she'd seen Allu Ileana in but couldn't put her finger on it. It didn't seem to fit together quite right. Nothing made sense.
She took another quick glance to the ceiling. The faded images weren't from Aroth, that she was sure of, but it looked like the ceiling of an inn they'd been in. She struggled to remember. Wasn't that the time she'd yelled at him because she'd fallen out of bed?
Meeting Dodend's eyes, she put a shaking hand on top of his. "What just happened?"

Dodend was about to respond, with 'I have no idea... let's find out', when a short laugh cut across their table. He looked at the source from Sandine's hand on his into the dark emerald green eyes of a woman in fully fledged business wear.
She stood a respectable five foot nine inches without the two inch heels she wore. Auburn hair resting, perfectly straight, between her shoulder blades. The tailored black, pinstripe suit comprised of a knee-length skirt, burgundy red shirt with mild ruffles forming a gentle 'V' from her neck to rest just above her cleavage, and a jacket that hugged her ribs. Her shoes were the exact colour of her lipstick. She looked rich and professional but definitely female. She smiled at Dodend and Sandine in an almost seductive manner, and it was effective enough to conceal the hint of fangs within her mouth.
"What, pray tell, is funny?", Dodend's voice would have been more stern if the smile hadn't dulled his anger a little. The woman flashed another smile, "What's funny, is that I know what's going on", she leaned towards them both and whispered annoyingly, "And you don't."

At that, Sandine's confusion set in further. She squinted at the woman and gave her a quick examination. She tried to search her memories that were falling back into place to see if she'd met this woman before but it proved futile. She just couldn't remember. Her top lip curled up ever so slightly. It was a good thing she'd long since stopped wearing makeup or she'd likely have black lipstick smudged over her teeth.
"And exactly what is going on then? I think we have the right to know," the elf said.

"Oh it's very simple really. You're not from here.", the woman winked at Sandine, "Though whether you have a right to know or not could be disputed Misses-No-Need-To-Be-Polite-And-Ask-Names.", she patted a passing waitress on the butt and slipped a card into their pocket.
"What do you mean we're not from here?", Dodend narrowed his eyes, "And who are you?"
"Oh look you finally asked. Well, I'm Evangeline Delacroix, Vampire Hunting Solutions Limited.", she offered a hand to Dodend and held it in the air for a few moments waiting for him to shake it. When he didn't move to shake hands she merely shrugged with a smile and lowered her hand. "Very well, I see you're not a handshake man, so how about I just get on with it eh?", she caught the slight nod Dodend gave her and continued, "It's very simple, the you, as you are, isn't from this world. You're from a different one. Probably not even from the same dimension as this one."

Sandine glared. Names weren't as high on the concern scale as the information Evangeline was divulging. She frowned and a few rare lines showed on her smooth, fair skin. She wasn't so trusting of the woman's friendly nature nor the statement of them not being from the world they were in. Then again didn't it make sense?
"And how exactly would you know Miss Delacroix? Being a vampire hunter does not make you the expert on dimensions other than this one. Obviously you have never met either of us before so why should we trust exactly what you are telling us?"

Evangeline's formerly friendly face now changed to a solid stone as she looked at Sandine, it was enough of a hard look to make somebody sitting at the other side of the restaurant shiver with unease. "You may not have met me Sanditae Tellitan Karaso Ritei, but I most certainly know you. And I am not a vampire hunter, I offer solutions to hunting. Pay attention.", her looks softened again in an instant. "Now then. I know about multi-dimensional travel, I've learned from the best, and, given the readings I'm getting from both of you on my residual energy detectors, I know you've been through a dimensional portal.", she indicated a strange looking watch on her wrist at the mention of energy detectors. "Now despite not being here in person, I can tell you that I can give you some information, if you wish.", she pulled a card from her jacket pocket and placed it on the middle of the table.
An electronic voice came from within her body, " Transmission end. " and she vanished in a gentle woosh of a holographic projection being switched off, all that remained in her place was a hovering robot which whirred off, and the card sitting neatly on the table.
"Well... That doesn't happen everyday...", Dodend said idly.

Sandine shrugged, almost casually but slightly too stiffly. "We've fought all kinds of crazy creatures, you took a dagger for me, and I've gone through a ton of shit lately. I don't think we should question whether or not that 'happens every day' Dodend."
She reached out and picked up the card on the table, examining it carefully. "So, the question is do we look for her?"

Dodend smirked at her comment, "I know it's not something we should question, but I was referring to the holographic robot. It's a prototype, not due to be released for public use until next year, and late next year at that. Whoever that woman is, she either has money to flash or she has a high profile.", he pondered for a moment, "Did she seem pale to you?"

"Little bit, but not significantly. There is something off about her, though. There's more to her than meets the eye. That is for sure," Sandine replied. She rested her elbow on the table and her cheek against her hand in a lazy manner. "How do you plan on proceeding with this, then?"

Dodend smiled softly, "Well, I think we should eat for starters, then perhaps we should stock up on supplies as a main course before blindly storming into what could be some form of dangerous situation for dessert.", the smile became a smirk, "Could involve plenty of killing and torture of innocent people and a whole lot of fun for us.". He hadn't changed much in their time apart.
The holographic robot whirred back across the room and beeped at Dodend. He payed it now mind until it began to beep repeatedly at him for attention. "What is it you infernal machine?", he snapped. It buzzed and hummed lightly as it projected a map of Aroth onto the table, alongside a map of 'The Continent' (as locals called it, nobody knowing the actual name anymore). The mechanical voice came from a tiny speaker above the projection assembly "Currently showing the locations of your portal activity. Red dot shows leaving portal in Dimension Theta, Land of Aroth. Blue dot shows arrival point in current dimension for the one named Dodend. White dot shows arrival point in current dimension for the one named Sandine." Dodend looked at the dots quietly for a moment. His was in the far North, on the ice cap, whereas Sandine's was in the city where they now sat together. The green dot on Aroth flickered gently while both the blue and white dots were constant. It felt as though there was something they were missing about these three points but Dodend wasn't quite sure.

Sandine narrowed her eyes and took on a look of intense concentration. "I don't think I like that flickering. It makes it seem like we're going to be stuck here if it closes. ...Which makes me wonder exactly where your daughter is and what she's up to. There isn't a dot for her nor for anyone else."

The mechanical voice chimed in Flashing indicates activity at the travel site, I presume that it is currently in use. Dodend watched as the flashing stopped, instead changing to a throbbing glow, "I'm going to guess that it's not being used right now but it's still active... How are you aware of the activity at these... sites?", the machine looked ready to respond before something internal whirred and clicked. The projection stopped and it swivelled around in the air, attention focused on a point in the wall which suddenly seemed strangely familiar.

Sandine narrowed her eyes at the wall, examining it closely. Some long forgotten eerie feeling settled over her and her stomach felt like it'd dropped to the floor. Her skin crawled and prickled and she simply resorted to staring at it. "I don't like this..." she mumbled.

At that very point in the wall a narrow line erupted and expanded to form a dark hole of space, and Emsar'dina stepped out, not a single trace of fear or surprise on her face. The very moment she had fully moved out of the portal, it closed up and all strangeness in the air vanished. "Hello you two, don't mind me.", she walked past before Dodend could collect himself after seeing his hated daughter appear from thin air before his very eyes.
His fingers wrapped around her wrist and held steady, forcing Ems to a stop. "Can I help you father?", she asked calmly.
