Octavis chuckled. "I'm sorry but you really don't know what I've been through with Aishi. I've face a Cremal lioness trying to skin Aishi alive." Octavis started to undo the bandage around his right forearm. "I faced her and came out with just this." He took the bandage fully off to show four deep scars running down his arm.
He re-wrapped his arm. "I know I can't hide my scent, but I've gotten very good at masking it. Cremal's have a brilliant sense of smell but when there is so much other overpowering scent they get confused. That's how I managed to get away with Aishi being unharmed."
Octavis looked at his watch. It was getting late and his lack of sleep was really getting to him. "I don't mind you being back-up, but we won't be in this town forever. We're planning to go and find a home. Aishi wants to stop traveling. He's seen everywhere now and just wants to live like a kid with a house and garden. You know, peacefully."

"I know," she murmured. She was breathing deeply, and he eyes were tight shut, almost as though she was in pain.
She turned away sharply and just started walking away.

Octavis furrowed his brows. "So we're okay?" He called at her retreating back.
He shrugged and turned to his and Aishi's room and entered. He locked the door behind them. He quickly made himself a bath and undressed before getting in. He sighed deeply at the hot water soothing his muscles and relaxing him. He closed his eyes to rest for a moment before washing himself. Once he was done he tried off and put his underwear back on. He walked into the bedroom and went to the other side of the bed and got in. He lifted up his knife and put it under the pillow. It was mere seconds before Octavis fell asleep.

Louisa sat outside the small inn, her back to the wall. Her senses would alert her if anything was wrong, but she really needed a minute. She squatted down, pinching the bridge of her nose, breathing deeply, eyes closed.
The fact that the need to protect was wired into her very DNA made it literally excruciating when she had an assignment that didn't want her here.
Maybe she should defer...let the strain off onto one of the brotherhood...no, she'd never deferred before...oh gods, she couldn't do this. What should she do?

Bright and early the next morning Octavis awoke and quickly dressed. He woke his young charge before headed down to request breakfast be sent up to the room. When he returned to the rom Aishi was dressed.

Louisa strolled in. There was height, strength and power in her stride, but the pale face told you - she had been up all night. She looked as though she were walking to a guilitine.

Aishi narrowed his eyes as Louisa came in. He stay at the opposite end of the bed from where she was. Octa raised an eyebrow at Aishi. "Aishi," he said sternly.
Aishi huffed and crossed his arms. He jutted his lower jaw out and looked away from Octavis and Louisa. Octa rolled his eyes and looked to Louisa. "Do you want to join us for breakfast?" He asked politely.

"I'd be happy to...if you think that's best," she told Octa. She would have spoken to Aishi, but she wasn't about to patronise him, any more than she was going to anger Octavis.

"I think it would be a great idea," he said with a small smile.
Aishi turned eyes wide. "Octa?"
"Louisa is going to have breakfast with us. Now be nice Aishi and come here," Octavis said pointly to the ground in between himself and Louisa.
Aishi slowly approach the woman and Octavis. He looked up at her with a defensive attitude.
"Aishi it was a misunderstnding. Louisa is here to help us," Octavis said putting his hands on Aishi's small shoulders. "I trust her, Aishi." Aishi turned to face Octa shcked. "So much so that I don't think you need to wear that necklace in front of her."
Aishi turned to face Louisa, he slowly reached for the necklace and pulled it off from over his head. In an instant he changed into his normal self. His horns and ears returned to norml and his clan markings appeared on his body and face.

Louisa smiled a little. She understood it was a big gesture. She knelt down to be eye-to-eye with Aishi.
"I'm going to propose a deal, ok? Have breakfast with me. Just breakfast, and keep the necklace off. Then, afterwards, I'll go outside and you can talk to Octavis alone. I need to stay, but you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with." She studied the younger demon's face.
"Whaddya say?"

Aishi raised an eyebrow as Louisa knelt down in front of him. He looked up to Octavis with an annoyed looked. Octa smiled and chuckled a little. Aishi turned back round to Louisa.
"Okay but you can't say anything about my eating habits," he said crossing his arms over his chest.

"I promise. Thank you," louisa said sincerely. She stood up and stretched her hand out to Octavis in a greeting and giving him a bit of a cheeky grin. Suddenly it was clear to see how she'd fitted in as a buxom wench in an inn like this.
"Ok?" she mouthed to Octavis, checking his agreement over Aishi's head. She didn't want to exclude the younger demon but she needed to check with Octavis as well.

Octavis smiled and hodded back. There was a knocked at the door and Octavis let them in, Aishi quickly put the necklace back on and took it off again when the waiter went away. Aishi grinned at the food and licked his lips. He grabbed a plate and filled it full with food. He ran to the bed and sat on it crossed legged and started eating with his hands.

Louisa was eating with her hands too, if more tidily than the demons. She laughed when she saw them look at her in surprise.
"I spend most of my life by a roadside, remember?"
