[size=1.5 ]"And change," Came the low voice, husky from disuse. Following the noise, we come to a young girl on her knees, panting heavily with her head resting on her thieghs- unaware that the male who had just spoken was already leaving without a word, a crease between his brows that told of his rare fear that something would go wrong.
It wasn't until minutes later that the girl felt she could lift her head against the dull ache- a memory of the pain before. One quiet curse as she looked around and stood up wearily- nothing was left. Who knew where Carter had left for this time. A game of cat and mouse- except the weaker one was chasing after the other. How had they got away with so much for so long? She couldn't help but wonder. It seemed so surreal, that sometimes she even believed that Carter would say a word of magic and freeze time- how else could everyone's lives be continueing as normal when hers- hers had ended already?
The thoughts were nothing new, and she never replied afterwards, instead, bending down to pick up a clip that had fallen from her hair. She pinned it in, and fixed the plait that ran around her head, ending somewhere above her stomach. That would have to be fixed soon, but there were more important issues at hand. Softly she brushed rough bushes from her path as she made her way back to the town. It would take over a good five minutes walking, not too far to seem suspicious, but not too close as to draw attention. Because there's not every day a townsperson gets to see a dragoness. Or Arrow, for that matter. How could she when the pain was too much to reach a mirror or lake, and when it didn't hurt- well, then she didn't have much choice on what she was going to do at all.
Arrow looked up to meet the town with her eyes, pulling her cloak around her tighter. It seemed so cold now, and the thought returned: why did no-one know what she was? Why did no-one run? It amused her something watching a few people hold baskets towards her, offering her goods but she politely declined and walked on, unaware of anybody worth the interest. They were in Frisdan, at the base of a bloody giant mountain. Who would be worth looking for here, of all places? All she was worried about now was finding Carter in some tavern with a musty beer glass of something warm and sweet waiting for her. Something to dull her senses. Something to take her mind off her thoughts. Some chance of that she mused. She'd have to sit there and keep quiet while he figured out if there were any rumours worth noting around the town. Anyone worth the bother of searching for. The bother of kill- Arrow stopped and looked around through the crowd. Now that she'd moved onto a different line of thought, she knew something wasn't right. Perhaps there was a bit of interest left in her. And with that, she started in the direction she knew would lead her to trouble yet again.

( alright. ) "What do we have here then? Another child of the shadows, or is it a friendly visit?", a harsh male voice echoed from behind the young dragoness. There was a strange wisp and a noise from the shadows, "Perhaps somebody more interesting than that...", the voice was directly to her right. Yet nobody remained to be seen.

She'd already started down an emptier road when the voice came from behind, and she instinctively swivelled lightly on her toes, eyes glazed in wonder, searching the road. Nothing. A few people walking past at the top of the street, but she was alone. "Carter?" She whispered, as he was the only one who spoke as harsh to her. No, the words were different. They confused her.
"Child of the shadows." She mused quietly. Her? No, Carter had made sure they couldn't be seen while she praticed. He never made mistakes. Ever. She backed away from where the voice had been. "Another child of the shadows? I'm sorry, but I haven't heard of this." The voice changed direction, and so did Arrow, determined to keep out of reach of him. It. "To be honest, I think it should be more interesting if there were to be a hovering voice..." She muttered sarcastically, backing against the wall behind her subconciously, before darting away from it again, alert to keep space available. Her head snapped around, trying to keep everything in sight and he stopped herself reaching for a dagger. What use was there in one of those when you couldn't see anyone?
Finally sure that she really couldn't see anyone, and unable to do anything anyway, she stopped her circles and stood her ground as a drip of panic entered her blood. Child of the shadows? Perhaps she was jumping to conclusions knowing what she did, but even still, she would need to know who the person was [if it was a person] and warn Carter. "Show yourself." She called out roughly. "Stop hiding and show yourself to me." She would definitely have to tell Carter about this.
[sorreh. that was pathetic.]

"And what makes you think I am hiding child?", the voice asked teasingly. A shadow moved by itself too large to be a cat, too small to be something else. A glint of red, then blue, then red again shimmered amongst bins before the same shadow jumped to the opposite wall, "I know what you are... Just not what your purpose is.", the voice lowered to a whisper in her ear, "Half-dragon", there was a strange sound as shadows rushed into each other and became one lone being. A young looking man stood, crimson eyes looking. His feet didn't exactly touch the ground, but he was close enough to pretend they did, "Boo"

Arrow hissed through her teeth- an annoyance bugging her about being talked down to, yet she held her retort back, wanting the explination she knew was coming. She turned her face away in disbelief as the colours danced infront of her eyes before spinning around to watch as they jumped across, not letting him behind her out of paranoia.
As the voice continued she found herself gritting her teeth but the words 'half-dragon' made her gasp involuntarily- although it was mostly the feeling that he'd been right beside her than the actual meaning. She felt a familiar shift in her conciousness and closed her eyes for a second to regain composure, ignoring the sounds before she opened her eyes to see the man infront of her. His final words made her smile more than anything and she cast a careful eye up and down him, before slickly murmuring, "Seems you've introduced me by yourself then. But you would be..?" Her eyes narrowed in suspicion as questions ran through her head. After six years and he had so easily tracked them down. Impossible. Her tongue slid over her lip gently as she puzzled it over in her head before she met his eyes with a surreal calmness, determined for answers. "Even better- what's your purpose?"

"And what makes you think I have a purpose?", the man smirked revealing sharp teeth which ended in points, it was hard to tell if he meant harm or not. A shadow drifted from behind the corner and joined into his body. He developed pupils in his eyes and a golden coin appeared in his hand. He flipped the coin silently and caught it effortlessly, "You need not worry child. If I wished to harm you in any way, I would have done so already without a second thought.", the sound of his feet touching the ground wasn't normal, mind you, neither was he.

Arrow eyed him carefully. What made her think that? Well, everything, to be completely honest. But she doubted that was a fitting answer. Here was a person, who seemed to be made of shadows , out of all things, and he was calling her interesting? There had to be a reason. She made to ignore the question and his next statement, ducking her head in a reluctant acknowledgement.
She had to admit it- she had been at a great disadvantage. Still was, mind, and with that thought she took a step backwards. There wasn't much reassurance in his comment. "Well, what is it you want then, if you're being as giving as you are today to spare my life?" She asked, with quite a bit of snap to her voice. He may be kind enough to let her live another day, but Arrow had her mind set that he wasn't getting an easy time from her already. She'd had enough to being pushed around from Carter- She didn't need someone else using her. Even if Carter would simply teach her to use a weapon, then she might have some independance. The exact reason why he wouldn't teach her. Arrow lifted her head deviantly, jaw set so strongly that, if she hadn't been biting her comments [and tongue] back so roughly, it just might have hurt. "I mean, you must have a reason to bother yourself to find out about my... matter." Matter. She made it sound so professional, even if she felt she was killing herself each time she tried out her trick.

The man bowed respectfully, "I wish to know more about this place. it caught my attention that you were... Different than the others, which made me curious, I also noticed that you travel with a male. It is with great interest that I offer work to you and your traveling... companion.", he rolled his shoulders and seemed to absorb the darkness around him, becoming a more full form in the process, "If you are interested, then please let me know."

"Oh?" Arrow's eyes widened slightly as he bowed, her smile letting away a bit of her embarrassment yet her skin stayed tanned and brown. She took in the meaning of his words silently for a second- This was the same person who had just told her straight up that he could kill her in a moment, and he believed she wanted him to join them? That's without even telling Carter about him. She bit on her lip gently- quite a bit of that sentence made her uneasy, but she wasn't the one who made decisions in this partnership.
"It's of no difference to me," She admitted, shrugging with a light smile. "My... companion," She repeated, "Is the one you should really be discussing with matters like that." He was curious about her. There was no reason not to be, and what difference was it if she travelled alone or not. Arrow frowned as he continued to change infront of her eyes. But then again, she was curious about him. "I could bring you to him-" She offered, "If you like."

"There is something I must ask you about your companion however.", he cracked his neck roughly in both directions, "Do you really know where he is right now?", he asked, "Because you seemed quite... What's the word for it?.. Lost. Then I started to talk to you. Perhaps that is something quite extraordinary in itself, but you... I can't think of a word to describe my thoughts other than amazing. Dragons are rare enough... But a half-dragon, now that is practically mythological these days...", he seemed to be thinking of saying something else but bit his tongue and instead, "I would like to meet him, yes... Go find him wherever he may be, I shall hear from the shadows."

Arrow smiled sleekly, but said nothing about not knowing, completely ignoring the cracks that were far too audible for comfort. He was quick at noticing things anyway- although, it probably hadn't taken too long for anyone to notice she didn't have a clue where she was going. Her smile remained as he continued, but she folded her arms impatently. Yes, he was an interesting creature in himself, it was obvious, but she wasn't going to be lured into a comfort-zone with him just yet, no matter how much she wanted to.
"And how do I know you won't be running- er-" Or whatever shadows do, "Off and telling somebody about me?" She could do the same about him, but who would believe her when she didn't even have a - "What may I call you, again?" She asked, curiously. She'd already taken a few steps around him towards the entrance when she stopped again for an answer. If need be, she was going to sprint, anything to get this to Carter and warn him.

"Now why would I go and spill out my knowledge for the world to know? They would merely abuse that knowledge, humans tend to do that.", the man blinked his crimson eyes. He raised an eyebrow when asked his name and looked around to check if anybody else would hear, "I never told you what to call me in the first place, Ma'am. smart trick, but it doesn't work on the few people in this place with a brain.", he turned to face her, "Necro is what I go by. Your name would be...", he phrased it like a question. Knowing that the person he was talking to wouldn't speak about him to anybody before her companion.

Arrow could help but give a laugh. "You're quick, that's for sure," She admitted, nodding. She shrugged innocently when he pointed out her trick- couldn't help her for trying. "Necro," Arrow repeated, just so that she knew she'd remember. What he went by- it wasn't his real name? Arrow eyed him again before shrugging lazily. "You may call me Arrow." She said, sounding quite bemused- in a way that it made you wonder whether that was what she went by or whether it was fake. She'd figured he'd probably figure out her name in a moment's notice, but again, it was worth the precaution. Arrow took another step backwards. "I trust, Necro, you will follow me?" She asked, thoughts running in her head.
[eww to that one. :3]
